Steps to Church Membership

The New Testament teaches that believers and only believers are to be members of the local church.  This is the practice at Chaplin Baptist Church.  This is what Baptists have historically called regenerate church membership.  No one becomes a member of our church because they are born into the church or their families are members of the church.  The only route to church membership is through a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.  While it is true that only individuals with a personal relationship with Christ can become members, there are different ways that our church accepts people into our fellowship who have accepted Christ.

By Profession of Faith and Baptism:  Those who have accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord may become members by publicly professing faith in Christ and following Him in Believer's Baptism.

By Transferring Membership by Letter:  Those who have already accepted Christ and joined another Southern Baptist church can move their membership to Chaplin Baptist by way of letter.

By Personal Statement of Faith:  In some special instances someone can become a member of our church who has accepted Christ and been spiritually baptized in a local church of like faith and mind with Chaplin Baptist Church.

So for someone to become a member at Chaplin Baptist Church they should:

-Accept Christ as Lord and Savior

-Make a Public Profession of Faith - or - Let the church know of your desire to join

-Attend the "Compass Class" (New Member Class)

-Enroll in a Sunday School Class

-Be faithful in attendance and look for ways to serve
